About Me

My name as you can guess is J. R. Cook and I’m a software developer in the Kansas City area that specializes in ASP.NET and C#. I also love tinkering around with software and have started becoming interested in Xamarin as well as Python (mainly to mess around with Raspberry Pi for home automation fun).

I am currently working at Hallmark Cards as a lead developer for several different projects, most of which involve writing services that move data around – either in the form of APIs or working with other legacy systems.

I’m not the most active person when it comes to GitHub but it’s something I am trying to change as I start exploring more about the world of open source software and contributing to it. I will plan on sharing any of my future work there for examples in some of my blogs (and hopefully future speaking opportunities).

In my free time I am also the co-founder of BlizzPro.com which is a community run fansite centered around video games created by Blizzard Entertainment. Fansites like this have been a passion of mine for over 15 years now. Also, I am a co-host to the popular Hearthstone podcast Well Met – we record every Sunday and normally listed in the top 100 for video game related podcasts on iTunes.
